Synopsis: Since its inception in 19th century, Indian writing in English has coruscated worldwide and the English works of Indian authors have been highly appreciated even by the people of English-speaking nations. In the present anthology, a sincere attempt has been made to provide an in-depth study of the works of reputed Indian authors like Bhabani Bhattacharya, amitabh Ghosh, Shashi Tharoor, Raj Kamal Jha, Arundhati Roy, Khumpa Lahiri, Shobha de, Manju Kapur, Anita Nair to name but a few. Aiming at encouraging variegated opinions without conforming to fixed and rigorous critical canons, the anthology not only focuses on novels but also on the other forms of literature that are brilliant evocation of historical, philosophical and social issues of great importance. It also traverses through psychological and subliminal issues. Contributors to the present anthology have explored the varied aspects of literary works of the noted and award winning writers, besides analyzing critically and impartially the question of equal rights for women raised by the eminent Indian writers in their works. Sanjay Kumar (ed.)
Sanjay Kumar, Ph.D., is Head of the Department of English at Chaudhary Devilal University, Sirsa (Haryana). He is a scholar and teacher of proven integrity and established credentials. As a Reader, Dr. Kumar has been associated wtih many reputed academic institutes including BITS, Pilani for more than twelve years. He has presented more than fifteen scholarly papers in various national and international seminars and conferences. So far he has to his credit about twenty papers, popular articles, poems and short stories published in different journals, anthologies and magazines. Dr. Kumar has keen interest in Indian Feminist Fiction, Diasporic Literature, Parallel Hindi Cinema and Professional Communication.
Binod Mishra (ed.)
Binod Mishra (1966) did his Honours (1989) and M.A. (1991) in English Literature from LNMU, Darbhanga. He was awarded Ph.D. in English on Mulk Raj Anand from the same university in 1998. Dr. Mishra has over ten years of teaching experience both at college and university levels. He started his career as a lecturer in English in February 1995 and was the Head, (Department of English) in Rangachachi College, Majuli, Assam, for five years. He received UGC Minor Research Project on the topic "Journey from Innocence to Experience in major Indo-Anglian Novelists". He has attended various conferences, seminars and workshops of National and International standards. He has also contributed his articles extensively to various journals and, anthologies on fiction and poetry. Apart from his critical writings, he has a good number of poems published both in English and Hindi. His areas of interest, include Indian Writing in english, Modern Fiction, and Modern Peotry and Criticism. Besides his keen interest in literature, he is actively involved in carrying, out research in the areas of Technical and communication English. Dr. Mishra is a Life Member of All India Association of English Studies. He is also a member of All India Studies in contemporry Literature. Since October 2000-Dr. Mishra has been an Assistant Professor, languages Group in Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, (Raj.) He is also the co-editor of BITSCAN-Semester News, a bi-annual newsletter published from the institute. He has also co-edited proceedings of National Seminar on Communication, held in October, 2004 and released in the form of a book " Communicating at Work: Shifting Paradigm and Emerging Trends'.
